Women of Change in the Time of War, Bucharest

During the Women of Change in the Time of War event held on November 21, 2022 at the Romanian Parliament in the Foreign Policy Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, Bucharest, we proposed the inauguration of the 16 days of activism against violence against women as well as the 22 years since adoption of UNSCR Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security.

This event also constituted the initiation of the dialogue between the civil society and the representatives of the Romanian Parliament on the topic of increasing the active role of women in the processes of conflict prevention and consolidation of peace and security.

We want to contribute together with the representatives of the Romanian Parliament, of the government institutions to the updating of the National Action Plan regarding women, peace and security - so necessary in the current context - to strengthen the decision-making roles of women in the prevention and resolution of conflicts and in the consolidation peace

Our guests expressed their opinion on the content of the current National Action Plan and what they think should be improved regarding the role of women in conflict prevention, crisis management, conflict resolution, peacebuilding and post-conflict rehabilitation.

The event was organized by the Centrul de Mediere și Securitate Comunitară Foundation (CMSC), in partnership with the Romanian Women's LOBBY Association (RoWL), Foreningen HEDDA, ​​Bulgarian Platform of European Women's Lobby, East-West Women's Network (NEWW) and Magyar Női Érdekérvényesítő Szövetség (Hungarian Women's Lobby) with the support of the Committee for Foreign Policy in the Chamber of Deputies and ActionAid.

The event took place within the project 'GLORIA - feminism and the strategic approach to gender equality', carried out with the financial support of Active Citizens Fund România, a program funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the SEE 2014-2021.
