Feminist Solidarity Forum - PANEL 1 - Europe at the crossroads

Iași

2023 - 29 October

PANEL 1 - `Europe at the crossroads - Equal participation of women at all levels: A prerequisite for peace, prosperity and societal change`

The first edition of this forum is designed as a platform for members of the Romanian Women’s Lobby (the coordination in Romania of the European Women’s Lobby) to come together with the general public, share their experiences and strategies, and inspire others to take on new challenges in their advocacy work to address the issues that women face in our society today.

We want a Europe where women and girls, in all their diversity, enjoy equal rights and equal participation in every sphere and at all levels of society, free from all forms of oppression and exploitation. These issues will be discussed in this panel with European and national experts in the field.
- We kicked off with the Presentation of the European Women's Lobby (EWL) manifesto for the 2024 European elections, a presentation made by our special guest Mary Collins - Secretary General of the European Women's Lobby
- We continued with Dina Loghin, Vice-President of the European Women's Lobby who spoke to us „About women's leadership and feminist solidarity”.
- „The presence of women in local politics: women mayors” was the theme presented by Andreea Fedor, Vice-President of Femeile se implică Association.
- Silvia Dumitrache, President of Associazione Donne Romene in Italia - ADRI talked about „Participation of migrant women in political and democratic life in Italy”.
- The last presentation in this panel was „About cyber violence against women in politics”, a presentation made by Laura Albu, President of Romanian Women's LOBBY.
The panel was moderated by Irina Sile, Vice-President of Romanian Women's LOBBY.

While significant progress has been made on women's and girls' rights in Europe, recent challenges have again shown that these crises are having a greater impact on women, girls and women's rights organisations.

The event took place within the project 'GLORIA - feminism and the strategic approach of gender equality', carried out with the financial support of Active Citizens Fund România, a program funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the SEE 2014-2021.

Working together for a green, competitive and inclusive Europe.
